Update on Rise at Yancy

It’s official! We opened our doors on December 2 and it has been a busy whirlwind ever since! Once we found out everything was ready and we were approved to begin preparing, we rolled up our sleeves, ready to go!

We immediately began hauling supplies that we’d stock piled for our new residents from our main TR office down the hill to the Rise building, filling up two vans and enlisting the help of staff and some very helpful clients. Each unit needed a microwave and a TV, with linens, bathroom supplies, kitchen utensils and more to come later with volunteer set up. The rest of the essentials–including dish sets, pots, pans, utensils, towels, shower curtains, bed linens, pillows, and more, as well as some wonderful custom bags donated by our amazing contractor, Buchanan General Contracting–were set up in the common room area of the building, awaiting volunteers to take them to their new homes. We also had one of our former board members, Ann, donate a lovely succulent plant for each room!

After a last-minute call for volunteers, we started setting up the new apartments for residents!

As of December 17, we have 35 new residents who have moved into the building. These folks include former clients from TR’s residential program and formerly houseless individuals. We have people lined up to move in to the remaining units and hope to be at full occupancy by the end of 2021!

All the residents have the opportunity to engage with TR’s services, with full time staff and case managers at Rise 24/7.

We want to thank all of our staff, volunteers, community partners, sponsors, friends and supporters for making this possible. After two years of waiting, we are beyond thrilled to not only have this project completed, but to provide a home and community to those who need it most.
